Terrell “Shorty” Nevels of Geneva passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021.  He was 80.  A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Murray Kelley officiating and Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva, directing. 


Mr. Nevels was born in Dale County, AL on July 22, 1940, to the late Harry Frank and Agnes Louise Casey Nevels.  He graduated from Geneva County High School, Class of 1958.  Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated Nevels Custom Meats for many years.  Mr. Nevels loved Alabama Football, fishing, and spending time with his family.  He was preceded in death by his son, Tully Rex Benefield; brother, Harold Nevels; and a grandson, Brandon Benefield.


He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Lorene Nevels; two daughters, Angela Louise Nevels, both of Geneva, and Dinah Pippin of Freeport, FL; son, Terry Benefield of Geneva; four grandchildren, Amanda Shaffer, Forrest Farris, and Mark Smith (Nichole) of DeFuniak Springs, FL, and Sophia Benefield of Louisiana; five great-grandchildren, Kaylin Shaffer, Madison Smith, Natalie Smith, Adriana, and Stephen Benefield; adopted great-granddaughter, Raenne; special great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Martha Ann Kelley of Dothan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
