Terry Randall Abston, of Enterprise, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, February 15, 2019.  He was 62.


 


Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019 at New Brockton First United Methodist Church with Pastor Craig Bailey, Pastor Joe Hunkin, and Pastor Ben McKee officiating.  Burial will follow in New Brockton City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 – 8 p.m.


 


Terry was born August 31, 1956.  His military service began when he joined the Army in February 1975.  By the time he retired in February 1997, he had achieved the rank of SFC.  Following his retirement, Terry continued in service as a GS11 Academic Civilian Instructor at the Army Aviation Center in Fort Rucker, AL from February 1998 until he retired again due to his physical disability in 2012.  During this time, Terry was recognized and awarded the “Army Aviation Academic Instructor of the Year” in 1999, 2001, and 2002.  He was a member of New Brockton First United Methodist Church, where he served as a lay leader and Sunday School Teacher.


 


He was preceded in death by his parents, James Albert Abston, and Onita and Oscar Mosley; and grandson, Isaac Nile Abston.


 


Survivors include his wife, Alofa Abston of Enterprise; four sons: Christopher Abston, Nicholas Abston (Lana), and Benjamin Abston (Cassi) of Enterprise, and Clinton Abston (Andrea) of Oklahoma; daughter, Rachel Otter (Bryan) of Idaho; two sisters: Linda Sims of Butler, AL and Patsy Kennedy (Ray) of Daphne, AL; brother, Jerry Abston of Moss Point, MS; six grandchildren, including Lucas and Arya Abston of Enterprise.
