DOTHAN. . .Thelma Kirkland Faison, a resident of Dothan, died Tuesday afternoon, February 15, 2022, in Extendicare Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was 98.


Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 17, 2022, in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery, near Headland, with Pastor Scott Wyatt officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services. Social distancing and mask guidelines will be observed. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Concord Baptist Cemetery Fund, c/o Janara Parrish, 1350 County Road 14, Newville, AL 36353.


Mrs. Faison was born and reared at Kirkland’s Crossroads in Henry County, daughter of the late Terrell Cas Kirkland and Rosa Lee Riley Kirkland. During World War II, she served her country in the aviation industry as an aircraft riveter patching bullet holes in U. S. military aircraft. A resident of Dothan since 1955, she was retired as the co-owner, operator and bookkeeper of Faison T. V. Service. Mrs. Faison was preceded in death by her husband, William Lewis “Lew” Faison, a sister, JoAnn Kirkland Crews, two brothers, Thelbert Kirkland and Tippy Riley Kirkland, a sister-in-law, Verdell Brannon Kirkland, and nephews, Stephen Terrell Kirkland and Michael Kirkland.


Surviving relatives include several nieces and nephews including, Judy Faison Carr, who was also Mrs. Faison’s  caregiver.
