Theresa Rose “Terri” Guidry Ivey, a resident of Dothan, Alabama died Friday, August 4, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 80.
Funeral services will be held at 3PM, Wednesday, August 9, 2023 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage funeral Home. Interment will be immediately following the service in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2PM until service time at the funeral home.
Mrs. Terri was born to the late Zephrien and Zilda Benoit Guidry on December 4, 1942 in Lake Arthur, Louisiana. She made her way to the wiregrass area in 1963 where she met the love of her life James Ray Ivey, Sr at Patricia Lanes Bowling Alley. As they began their journey of thirty years in marriage along came two daughters and a son. Mrs. Terri had many hobbies including reading, watching the Food Network, enjoying the beauty of nature especially the butterflies and hummingbirds, dancing to Cajun music, and finding great bargains at thrift stores and garage sales. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Mrs. Terri was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and two brothers, Ernest Guidry and Allen Guidry.
Left to cherish her memories are two daughters, Nikki Odom and Tracy Jaques; a son, James Ray Ivey, Jr; a sister, Merle Dugas; two brothers, Lester Guidry (Peggy) and Greg Guidry; five grandchildren, LeAnna Hataway (Chris), Dr. Alysa Ivey, Hunter Jaques (Jessica), Dakota Faison (Rod), and Tristan Jaques; seven great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
