NEWVILLE. . .Thomas Byrd “Tommy” Pitts, Jr., a resident of Newville, died early Sunday evening, February 7, 2021, in a Dothan hospital. He was 61.

   Graveside services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, February 10, 2021, in the Union Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, near Newville, with Reverend Guy Causey officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services. Social distancing guidelines and masks will be observed. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Union Springs Baptist Cemetery Fund, c/o Josie Whiddon, 359 County Road 145, East, Headland, AL 36345.

   Tommy Pitts was born and reared in Dothan and moved to Newville in 2002. He was formerly employed by GE and Colonial Baking Company. Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Byrd Pitts, Sr., and a brother, Gary Bruce Pitts.

   Surviving relatives include his mother, Mary Petty Pitts, Newville; cousins, Charles Larry Petty, Sonja Petty Adcock, Eric Petty and Christina Petty Patterson, several other cousins from the Petty, Pitts and Weathington families.
