Thomas “Coach” Helms of Geneva, AL passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family and friends. He was 74.  

Graveside funeral services will be held at El Bethel Baptist Church cemetery, at a later date, due to Covid.

Thomas “Coach” Helms was born in Geneva County, AL on January 28, 1947 to the late Leslie Cryle and Evie Grace Moore Helms. He was a loving father, husband, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin, as well as a beloved teacher, coach and friend to many.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Harold and Margaret Helms, Gerald Helms, Patricia Jackson and Ricky Helms.

He is survived by his daughter, Leah Helms of Brantley, AL; three grandchildren, Noah Morgan, Nate Welmon and Isabelle Sanders, his siblings, Lamar Helms (Bonita) of Enterprise, AL, Ann Bresynan (Ed) of Gainsville, FL, Sandra Bowers (Johnny) of Westville, FL, Wayne Helms (Tammi) of Geneva, AL; a number of special nieces and nephews and a very devoted and dear friend for many years, Coach Gary Grantham of Geneva, AL.
