Obituary:  Thomas Thornton

Mr. Thomas Kenneth Thornton, of Enterprise, Alabama, passed away Friday, August 19, 2022 at his residence surrounded by family. He was 82.

A graveside service will be at 11:30 am on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Meadowlawn Cemetery with Chaplain Chris Adams officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise directing.  The family will receive friends at Sorrells Funeral Home prior to the graveside service from 10:00 am until 11:00.

Kenneth was born July 18, 1940 in Alabama to the late Will and Julia Spears Thornton. In addition to his parents; brothers and sisters –in-laws, Malcolm Thornton (Betty), Clifford Thornton (Faye), Billy Thornton (Ethel), Roger Thornton (Linda); sister and brother-in-law, Rueleanor Dickerson (Ken); brother-in-law, Gerald Dunn all preceded him in death.

In lieu of Flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation at Donation Processing, The Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years, Loretta Thornton; son, Brent Thornton (Alba); two grandchildren, Sophia and Thomas; sisters-in-law, Sherlene Newton of Elkton, Maryland, Lynn Mauldin of Atlanta, GA, Patricia Edwards of New Brockton, AL, Dee Cowing of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Elizabeth Dunn of Rensselaer, NY; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say a special Thank You to Gail Gilmore and family as well as Dayspring hospice for all of their help and support during this time.
