OZARK. . .Thomas Newton Parker, a resident of Ozark, died Thursday morning, March 23, 2023, in Westside Terrace in Dothan. He was 87.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 25, 2023, in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Eufaula, with Reverend Clyde Hancock, Jr. and Pastor Chris Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 105 Pleasant Hill Road, Eufaula, AL 36027.

Mr. Parker was a native of the Union community in Henry County, son of the late Robert Newt Parker and Ellen Hutto Parker. He formerly lived in the Capps Community and Screamer Community both in Henry County before moving to Ozark in 2013. Mr. Parker was engaged in farming most of his adult lifetime. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joann Moring Parker, a son, James Earl Parker, sisters, Reba White, Rubye Ruthven and Bernice Money, and brothers, Randall Parker, William Parker and Robert Parker.

Surviving relatives include four daughters, Lynda Parker, Abbeville; Denise Golden (Jeff), Dothan; Michele Mayo (Joey), Malvern, AL; and Kim King, Newville; a son, Kent Parker (Teresa), Echo Community; a sister, Melba Jean Helf (John); grandchildren, Lucas Lisenby (Erica), Jeffery Golden, Jesse Golden (Jessica), Loran Golden, Jacob Parker, Blake York (Kendall), Paxton Chambers (Connie), Justin Chambers, Ryan Chambers (Jamie), Garrett King, Anna Mayo, Elijah Parker, Shane Parker and Hannah Parker; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
