Tommy Joe "Butch" Richards, Jr., 55, of Midland City passed away Monday, November 28, 2011 at a local hospital.


Graveside services will be held 2 pm Friday, December 2, 2011 at Newton City Cemetery with Rev. Benny Cole officiating and Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Thursday at the funeral home.


Tommy was born August 5, 1956 in Houston County, AL and lived in Midland City and Napier Field most of his life. He was employed with Ansley's as a truck driver and also in the home building business. He was preceded in death by his father Tommy Joe Richards, Sr. and his mother Sara P. Key.


Survivors include his wife Sally Richards of Midland City; a son Christopher (Rebecca) Richards of Midland City; daughters, Melinda Richards of Midland City, and Christina Richards of Muncie, IN; a grand-daughter Jaleah Richards of Muncie, IN; brothers, Larry (Debra) Richards of Chipley, FL, Samuel (Doris) Denton of Dothan, Danny (Janice) Denton of Dothan, and Michael (Janie) Denton of Enterprise; sisters, Linda (Jim) Adkinson of Dothan, and Dianne (Mykle) Williams of Dothan; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.


Pallbearers will be Gerald Soto, Mike King, David Testin, Jason Baker, Zack Johnson, and Carl Johnson.
