Mr. Tony, as he was known to so many, was a kind and gentle man. He loved his Lord Jesus and served his Lord in ministry for many years. He served as music director at Damascus Baptist Church for 17 years until he and his family moved to Elba from Goodman in 1981. While at Damascus, he also served as a deacon and the church treasurer. After moving to Elba from Goodman, Tony was an active member and deacon at First Baptist Church of Elba. He also sang in the choir at First Baptist. He had a love for music like no other. He was an excellent musician and loved playing his guitar and fiddle. Up until his death, you could find him at the Enterprise Recreation Center every Friday night playing his fiddle in The Cowpen Creek Band for senior citizens to enjoy. The band would also frequent playing in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and at other community events.

Tony was a master of all trades. He could fix anything and fix it right. He was a welder, a plumber, an electrician, a carpenter and so much more. For over 44 years he was a journeyman welder at Dorsey Trailers. He was a highly skilled welder and had work ethic like no other.

Perhaps the most important thing about Tony Bowers is that he loved his Lord Jesus and he loved the word of God. He knew and loved scripture and you could often hear him recite scripture in his daily life.
