Fletcher “Trey” Stevens Vickers, III, 52, of Geneva, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 28, 2018.  He was born in Tuscaloosa, AL on October 20, 1965.  Trey was a graduate of Geneva High School, Class of 1984, where he lettered in football and baseball.  He was named best pitcher his senior year after beating Luverne in the play-offs. In Trey’s last two years at GHS playing football, the combined record was 17-4.  He played baseball collegiately at George C. Wallace Junior College in Dothan, AL, and The University of Alabama.  He was a member of Pi Kappa Phi social fraternity and earned a degree in Human and Environmental Sciences.


 


Trey was a lifelong member of Geneva First United Methodist Church where he served on The Board of Trustees and the Church Council.  He loved working with the youth group, Vacation Bible School and even taught Sunday school at one time.  Trey was a devoted Christian, loved his family and enjoyed life.  He loved to fish, hunt and work on his Martial Arts. His working career was dedicated to the Mortgage industry.  He was licensed in Alabama and Florida, working for his father’s business, Heritage Mortgage, while ending his career at Wells Fargo.


 


Trey is survived by his parents, Steve and Sarah Kathryn Vickers, of Geneva; his brother and sister-in-law, Todd and Miranda Vickers, and niece August Vickers, of Birmingham, AL.  He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher S. Vickers, Sr., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Justice, both of Geneva, AL.


 


The family will receive friends October 4th, 2018 for a visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. with the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m., both at the First United Methodist Church in Geneva, AL, with Reverends Jake W. and Dana Brady officiating. Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of life in the Social Hall following the service.  All are welcome.
