DOTHAN. . .Tulane Wilson Duke, a resident of Dothan, formerly of Tuscaloosa, died Saturday evening, May 28, 2022, at her home. She was 78.


            Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 31, 2022, in the Calvary Baptist Church, 901 Montezuma Avenue, Dothan, with Reverend Jason Duren officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 P.M Tuesday in the church sanctuary.


            A second funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 1, 2022, in the Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. Gil McKee officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel, 5434 Old Birmingham Highway, Tuscaloosa. Burial will follow in the Tuscaloosa Memorial Park Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations, Headland, Alabama, is in charge of funeral arrangements.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Road, Montgomery, AL 36111 or to DaySpring Hospice, 3160 West Main Street, Dothan, AL 36305.


            Ms.  Duke was born in Jackson, Tennessee and was reared in Tuscaloosa. She lived in Tuscaloosa most of her lifetime before moving to Dothan  in 2013. She received a BS Degree and Masters Degree, both in Education, from the University of Alabama. Ms. Duke retired from the Tuscaloosa City School System as Assistant Superintendent after thirty-three years. She served two terms on the Tuscaloosa City School Board. Ms. Duke was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Dothan, and was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa. She was preceded in death by her father, William Wallace Wilson, her mother, Ouida Brewer Wilson and a brother, Bernarr Wilson.


            Surviving relatives include her son, Dr. Doug Duke, Dothan; two granddaughters, Emma Duke and Ella Duke, three sisters, Beverly Antonini, Atlanta; Sandra Nail (Lowell), Jasper, AL; and Joy Volkan (Ara), of Florida; three brothers, Max Wilson (Diane), Tuscaloosa; Royce Wilson (Gloria), Atlanta; and Erroll Wilson (Chabela), Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews.
