Verla M. Meints

 

Verla M. Meints, 84, a resident of Dothan, died Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Bonifay Nursing and Rehab Center.

 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday August 17, 2012 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Baxter officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time on Friday.

 

Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center.

 

Mrs. Meints was born October 6, 1927 in Iowa and later taught school for several years there. In 1970, she and her family moved to Dothan. She and her husband owned and operated Spray-On Insulation in Dothan for many years prior to her retirement. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Dothan.

 

Mrs. Meints is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, John R. Meints, a son, Dennis Dean Meints and a brother, Bernie Clark.

 

Survivors include her children, Richard (Connie) Meints of Dothan, AL, Gary (Laurel) Meints of Hartford, AL, Dianne (Glen) Binion of Grayson, KY, Sandi Kessler of Spokane, WA, Jackie (Wayne) Binion of Grayson, KY, Teresa Galloway (Paul) of Dothan, AL and Charlie Kessler of Spokane, WA; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert D. Clark of IA; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Andy Galloway, Jeremiah Littleton, Daniel Littleton, Chad Wilson and Steve James.
