Mrs. Virginia Adkinson Lindsey, age 82 of Haleburg died Saturday morning, June 8, 2019 at the residence of her daughter following a brief illness.


Funeral services for Mrs. Lindsey will be held at 4 PM Monday, June 10, 2019 at Haleburg Baptist Church with Reverend Ray Cobb and Reverend Don Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 PM until service time at the church. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the charity of choice.


Mrs. Virginia was born March 1, 1937 in the Tumbleton community of Henry County to the  late Oyd and Donie Baker Adkinson, and she lived in Haleburg for the past 61 years. She was a homemaker and formerly attended Tumbleton Assembly of God and Oakey Grove Baptist Church.


Survivors include her loving husband of 61 years, John Fred (Zeke) Lindsey of Haleburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Wayne Scott of Abbeville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Timothy Lindsey of Denison, TX and John William and Ellen Adkinson of Lizella, GA; a sister, Martha Parmer of Shorterville; a brother, Robert Adkinson of Headland; a sister-in-law, Jean Lindsey of Albany, GA; six grandchildren, Leigh (James) Tucker, Dusty Lindsey, Ashleigh (Jason) Weems, Allison Lindsay, Michelle (Charlie) English and April (Jesse) Ingram. Nine great grandchildren also survive.


Serving as active pallbearers will be Wayne Scott, James Tucker, Jason Weems, Dusty Lindsey, Roger Scott and Roy Dean Smith.
