VIRGINIA LISENBY THOMPSON



MIDLAND CITY… Mrs. Virginia Lisenby Thompson, a resident of Midland City, passed away Wednesday night, March 15, 2023, at a Dothan hospital. She was 86.



Celebration of Life services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday March 20, 2023, at Wright Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Reverend Michael Proffitt officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.



Mrs. Thompson was born on November 12, 1936 to the late Grady Crawford Lisenby and Mary Inez Long Lisenby in Dothan. She attended Dale County High School in Midland City.  She was employed for over 50 years as the bookkeeper at Ray Thompson Auto Service in Dothan alongside her husband. She was also employed at Mississippi Chemical in prior years. She enjoyed painting and was an incredibly talented artist. She was a member of Sylvan Grove United Methodist Church. Virginia was a fierce, determined, big hearted, loving, and a gentle soul. She loved her family the most and enjoyed spending time with them as much as she could.



In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters Juliaette Lisenby Givens and Sandra Lisenby.



Surviving relatives include her loving husband of sixty seven years, Ray Thompson; daughter, Taresa Woodham (Dana); son Mike Thompson (Marilyn); grandchildren, Damon Woodham (Chanetta) of Dothan, Madison Woodham of Phoenix, Arizona, Chasity Enfinger (Tim) of Cowarts, Kira Wilde (Chris) of Oxford, North Carolina, Nathan Thompson (Abby) of Headland, Brandi Enfinger of Cowarts; great grandchildren, Donnie Enfinger, Blake Enfinger, Mia Thompson, Aiden Thompson, Remington Thompson, Jaxon Wilde, Mary-Kate Wilde, Keelan Woodham, Kaedence Woodham, Abbigail Woodham; sister Dale Lisenby Deese (Mike); several other special cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family would like to thank special caregiver, Teresa Temples, for her love and care during this time.
