Virginia (Ginny) Ross Malone was born in Dothan, Alabama, on February 8, 1934, to George Yewell and Johnnie Logan Ross Malone. She grew up at 404 South Park Avenue. As a child, she looked like Shirley Temple, climbed Magnolia trees, and went to see Lash LaRue at the movies. She graduated from Dothan High School.

At Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama, Ginny met and married William (Bill) Henry Haden, Jr. of Montgomery. When the U.S. Army stationed Bill in Japan, Ginny joined him, pregnant with twins. She had twins, William (Bill) Henry Haden III and George Malone Haden, in an Army hospital in Tokyo.

The family returned to Dothan. Virginia had a third son, John Hart, but the infant died after several weeks. It hurt her badly. She looked for help. She found Christ. She had a fourth son, Edgar (Ed) Robert Haden. She devoted her life to taking care of her husband, raising her sons, involvement in her church, and helping friends in need.

In 1969, Ginny’s work in starting a school for underprivileged children gained her recognition as Dothan’s Woman of the Year. Later, she helped start a church -- New Covenant Christian Fellowship. She taught how the tabernacle in the Old Testament pointed toward Christ in the New Testament. She hosted and attended prayer meetings and Bible studies.

Virginia enjoyed vacations at the family cottage at Seagrove Beach with friends and family where she swam in the Gulf of Mexico and took in the sun. One Christmas, she helped her grandchildren wrap themselves up as presents. That was her gift – knowing what gave people joy.

Ginny listened to, prayed for, and helped financially, numerous people over many decades. Her compassion touched many lives.

Virginia succumbed to Alzheimer’s, dementia, and Parkinson’s disease on September 10, 2022. She was eighty-eight years old.

Virginia was predeceased by her husband, Bill, and her sisters, Anna Laurie Bolling of Mobile (Bill), Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Calhoun of Moss Point, Mississippi (Wallace), and her son John Hart Haden.

She is survived by her brother Edgar (Ed) Robert Malone II, her sons Bill (Autumn), George, and Ed, her grandchildren, Adrian Haden Flory (Mike), David Ross Farnham Haden (Shannon), Jackson Gray Haden, and Luke Britton Haden, and her great-grandchildren Aurora Marguerite Flory and David Ross Farnham Haden II.

The funeral will be on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at New Covenant Christian Fellowship, 3500 Reeves Street, Dothan, Alabama 36303. Mrs. Haden will be buried at Dothan City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. on Saturday prior to service time. Flowers are being accepted.

Glover Funeral Home of Dothan has been entrusted with the arrangements. (334) 699-3888. Please sign the guestbook online at www.gloverfuneral.com.
