Vivian A. Willard

Vivian A. Willard, age 92, of Prattville, Alabama passed away Monday, August 20, 2012.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Selma Baptist Church with Rev. Thaxton Whiddon and Dr. Brent Parker officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Mrs. Willard was born February 26, 1920 in Dothan. She married Carl Willard on April 1, 1941 and they were inseparable for 60 years. They lived first in California then moved to Columbus, Kansas for 10 years where they owned and operated a service station. They relocated to Gadsden, Alabama in 1957 where they spent the next 5 years while Carl worked with Southern Airways. Their lifelong dream of moving back to Dothan came true in 1961 when they moved into their home on land next door to Vivian's childhood home.

Vivian worked at Sears for many years before her retirement in the mid-eighties. She was active at Selma Baptist Church where she worshipped and had a large family of friends. Following the death of her husband, Vivian moved to Prattville to be with her daughter. There she became a much loved member of Glennwood Baptist Church Sunday School.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Carl R. Willard and her parents, Clayton and Eura Adams.

Survivors include her daughter, Rosetta Orr of Prattville, AL; grandchildren, Mark and Missy Orr of Kansas City, KS, Crawford and Marsha Jones of Prattville, AL, and Paul and Tammy Orr of Chicago, IL; great-grandchildren are Emeline Jones (11), Fletcher Jones (7), and Aidan Orr (7).
