COLUMBIA. . .Voncile Reeder Porterfield, a resident of Columbia, died late Friday night, February 25, 2022, at her home. She was 85.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 28, 2022, in the Ebenezer Baptist Church with Dr. Nash Wills officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Monday in the church sanctuary. Social distancing and mask guidelines will be observed. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church “Children’s Department”, 3894 Ebenezer Road, Columbia, AL 36319.


Mrs. Porterfield was born in Dale County, near Daleville, and was reared in Dale and Houston Counties, daughter of the late Henry C. Reeder and Connie Ethel Brady Reeder. She moved to Columbia in 1970. Mrs. Porterfield was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church where she formerly taught a children’s sunday school class. Mrs. Porterfield was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby J. “Bob” Porterfield, a granddaughter, Sabrina Nall, two sisters, Reese Wade and Barbara Toole, and a brother, Wilmer C. Reeder.


Surviving relatives include a daughter, Cindy Nall (Craig), Columbia; two sons,  Dennis Porterfield (Barbara), Webb, AL; and Eugene Porterfield; two sisters, Judy Clark (Randy), Dothan, and Gayle Williams, Columbia; a brother, James Reeder (Carolyn), Greenville, SC; three grandchildren, Troy Nall, Michelle Nall Florida (Jeremy) and Michael Porterfield (Elyse); two step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
