Walt Drake, 47, died October 29, 2011, at UAB Hospital, Birmingham.

 

Visitation is at Watermark Church, Ashford, Al from 3 to 5:30 P.M. Monday, October 31, 2011, followed by a memorial service. Graveside services will be held at 3 P.M. Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at Drake Cemetery in Huntsville, AL.

 

Mr. Drake was born October 28, 1964, in Titusville, Florida, to Crawford and Betty Drake.

 

Mr. Drake graduated from Sparkman High School, Toney, AL, and received his Master’s Degree in Physical Education from the University of Alabama where he served as a graduate assistant under Coach Bill Curry.

 

He taught and coached at Headland, Ashford and was most recently Defensive Coordinator at Cottonwood. He was a member of Watermark Church. He judged numerous beauty pageants and was recently certified as a judge in the Miss America Pageant System.

 

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Cindy Steelman Drake; daughters, Katie and Sarah ; parents, Crawford and Betty Drake; brother, Web and wife, Sharon and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Walt Drake Memorial Scholarship Fund and Compass Bank in Dothan, AL.
