Wayne H. Murray, MAJ US Army (retired), age 74, departed this life for the next on June 19. He was at peace and in no pain, surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer.


The family will receive friends 10-11 am Friday July 28, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home. Military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. Interment will be at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.


Mr. Murray was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving both in the Special Forces and later as an Infantry branch aviator. Upon retirement from the Army, he spent thirty-one years working as an instructor pilot, training aviation branch officers. He loved his family, flying and anything to do with trains.


He was pre-deceased by his parents, Harold and Violet Murray and his sister, Jenny Stuart.


He is survived by his wife of twenty-five years, Lisa Bailey; his children, Judith Mason, Ben Murray and Robert Murray; as well as his four grandchildren; many friends and his beloved pets.
