Mr. Wayne Roper of Dothan went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, September 28, 2013, at the age of 78.

 

Funeral services will be held at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel at 4 P.M. Monday, September 30, 2013, with Reverends Ryan Shipp and Brent Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

 

 The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 P.M. Monday, September 30, 2013, one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice or Parkinson Research at U. A. B.

 

Mr. Roper was a member of Selma Baptist Church. He loved to play the Harmnica, and was a coin collector and knife collector. He carved walking sticks, loved Gaither Gospel Music and loved to take pictures.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wade H. Roper and Eunice Hammock Roper, and one brother, Stanley Roper.

 

Survivors include his wife, Jo Roper of Dothan; daughters, Wanda Schamp and her husband, Bob of Dothan; Shelby Conally and her husband, Ronnie of Dothan; Susan McDuffie and her husband, Mike of Crestview, FL; son, Wally Roper and his wife, Tami of Dothan; sister, Sue Tucker and her husband, Bob of Dothan; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Pat Roper, several nieces, nephews, and other family members.

 

Pallbearers will be the grandsons.
