Will Roney, Jr. of Dothan passed away Saturday morning, December 17, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 86 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 19, 2022, at Hodgesville Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Hart and Dr. Ricky Plummer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home.

Mr. Roney, a retired farmer, was born in Ashford, Al to the late Will Roney, Sr. and Ethel Redding Roney on October 17, 1936. In 1964, Will married the love of his life, Nina, and together they raised two loving daughters.

Will enjoyed RVing, camping, going to gospel singing, playing hide and seek and dominos with his grandchildren, listening to music, and singing. His love for music would turn into a passion that he shared with others as the Minister of Music at Hodgesville Baptist Church for over 30 years.

In addition to his parents, Will Roney, Sr. and Ethel Roney, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Carolyn Deal, Sue Bailey, and Betty Barber; and brother, Herbert Eugene Roney

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Nina Godwin Roney; daughters, Gina Strickland (Dr. Jeff), and Kelli McCart (Stewart); grandchildren, Will McCart, Kenleigh McCart, Kameron McCart, Walker McCart, Leah Grace Strickland, and Luke Strickland; brother, Sammy Roney (Charlene); sister, Nell Center; and several nieces and nephews.
