William J. Scott, a resident of Dothan passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at his residence. He was 79.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Fred Bacher officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA, 22215.


Mr. Scott was born January 21, 1938 in Houston County, Alabama and lived in Malvern most of his life. He was employed with Hedstrom, Dairy Fresh, Coca-Cola Bottling, and Solomon Chevrolet. He was a family man and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Dothan Fellowship Cowboy Church.


Survivors include his sons, Bobby (Gail) Scott and Billy Scott; grandchildren, Thomas Scott, Tony Scott, and Cassandra Scott; great-grandson, Warren Thomas Money; a brother, Paul (Patricia) Scott; sisters, Bonnie Sykes, Dianne (Ricky) Carver, and Nina Faye Weeks; several nieces and nephews.


Pallbearers will be Johnny Ray Scott, Steve Blackman, Jesse Scott, James Adkins, Justin Scott, and Mike Strickland.
