William Jack Durham, 86, of Fort Gaines, GA passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Flowers Hospital.


A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 9th, in Bluffton Cemetery with Rev. Michael Williams, Bro. James Holloway, and Bro. Jackie Williams officiating. Jack’s former coworkers are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers. Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, those attending are asked to maintain the recommended safe social distancing of six feet and/or wear protective masks in accordance with the State of Georgia guidelines. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Bluffton Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 36, Bluffton, GA 39824, the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home, P.O. Box 329, Palmetto, GA 30268, CMI, c/o Judy Williams, 4909 Tulip Lane, Matthews, NC 28104, or the Rehobeth Ranch, P.O. Box 208, Morgan, GA 39866.


Jack was born on September 23, 1934 in Clay County, GA to the late Willie Arthur Durham and Ethel Pearl Bundy Durham. In addition to being a farmer, Jack worked in the peanut industry throughout his career. Starting with Columbian Peanut Company which was acquired by Archer Daniels Midland and eventually Golden Peanut Co., Jack retired after forty-two years with the company. He was a member of the Ft. Gaines Lion Club, a former member of the Abbeville Christian Academy board of directors, and a deacon at Bluffton Baptist Church. Jack was a United States Army veteran.


Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Lorraine Todd Durham; his daughter and two sons, Debbie Barnes (Keith), Joel Durham, and Loren Durham (Cindy); four grandchildren, Jessica, Lauren & Sarah Barnes, and Joshua Durham; his brother, Bobby Durham of Ft. Gaines; two nephews, Rob and Will Durham; and a niece, Kelly Mauldin, along with extended family members and friends.


In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Myrus Durham, and a nephew, Jeff Durham.
