William Michael Hunt

 

William Hunt age 82 of Opp, Alabama passed away Saturday, May 20,2023 at Flowers Hospital.

Mr. Hunt was born July 22, 1940 in Mississippi to Alva Ira Hunt and Zora Grisham Hunt. 

After High School he proudly served in the Marine Corp and Army Reserves.  While in the Army Reserves, he was ranked as the number one cadet in the nation and was honored by having his name inscribed on the Ericson cup at the Smithsonian.  His love was refereeing ball (baseball, softball, basketball and football) games. He called High School and some Junior College.  He was a member of the Athletic Association and was honored to referee a little league World Series game in Colorado. 

William is preceded in death by his parents; daughters Jerolyn Janeal (J.J.) Hunt, Laura Leigh Brown; infant brother; sister Jackie Odle.

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Charlotte Jones Hunt; son Stephen Bryant Hunt; two grandsons; two granddaughters; two great grandsons.
