WILLIAM “OTTO” SINGLETARY


HEADLAND, AL… William “Otto” Singletary, a resident of Headland, Alabama, passed away early Friday morning, January 12, 2024, at Henry County Health & Rehabilitation. He was 84.


          Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel, with Reverend Norman C. Simmons and reverend Hollis Ritter officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Abbeville, Alabama. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.


          In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, in c/o Claudia Trawick, 213 McClendon Drive, Abbeville, Alabama 36310.


          Mr. Singletary was born in Henry County, Alabama to the late William Armpstead Singletary and Mae Dell Smith Singletary. He lived his entire life in walking distance of his birth place. He was a 1957 graduate of Newville High School. He worked and retired from Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant.


          Leaving to cherish his memories is his daughter, Kay Singletary; his son, Craig Singletary; his sisters, Mary Hamm and Freddie Scott (Roger); his brother, Joe Singletary (Malissa); his grandchildren, Kyli Singletary, Mason Singletary, Breana Money, and Brooke Martin (Chris); his great-grandchildren, Noah Martin and Rosilyn Martin; his special friends, Darlene Money, Jonathan Howerton, Karina Rodriguez, Martha Kirkland, Nina Kinsey, and Angie Jones.


          Serving as active pallbearers will be Craig Singletary, Mason Singletary, Jonathan Howerton, Chris Martin, Nick Singletary, and Hollis Ritter.


          The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Gentiva Hospice, with a special thanks to Shannon Burdeshaw, for the kindness and compassion shown to Mr. Singletary and the family during this time.
