William Timothy “Tim” Black, age 61, of Dothan, AL, passed away Monday, February 19, 2019, at his home.

The family will receive friends at Ward-Wilson Funeral Home for visitation on Friday, February 22, 2019 from 10 AM until service time at 11AM, officiated by Rev. Chuck Locke at Ward-Wilson Funeral Home.

Tim was born to Janice Moseley McCook, October 11, 1957, in Atlanta, GA.  He attended Carver High School in Montgomery, AL, where he met his late wife Shirley Ann Bass Black.  They were married for 33 years.

While living in Dothan, Tim specialized in precision machining and manufacturing for over 40 years.  He began his long career at Spun Steel before moving on to Alabama Electric where he ran the machine shop and later Service Machine where he would work in sales.  After leaving Service Machine he worked at LMC for a few years before becoming owner and operator of Performance Machine Works, LLC of Dothan, AL. He was known throughout the machining and manufacturing community for his integrity, sense of humor, and most importantly his work ethic.

Tim valued time with his family, cooking for his grandsons, spending time on the gun range, collecting coins, model cars, and listening to music.  When Tim got away from work, he could be found fishing, enjoying the mountains, or working in his yard.

He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley and stepfather Edward J. McCook, father and mother-in-law David and Oma Bass.  He is survived by daughters Rachel Povlacs (Larry), Natalie McLaughlin (Brian), grandsons Evan and Patrick Povlacs, brothers Anthony Black (Reyna), Michael McCook (Monica), Joseph McCook (Nicole), sister-in-law Virginia Boutwell (Steve), numerous nieces, nephews, cherished cousins and many friends.
