HEADLAND. . .William Wilson “Doc” Whitehead, a resident of the Tumbleton Community of Henry County, died early Monday afternoon, February 27, 2023, at his home. He was 68.



 Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 3, 2023, in the Shiloh Word Fellowship with Reverend James E. Ward, Jr. and Reverend James E. Ward, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery-East. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the mortuary in Abbeville.



Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1449 Medical Park Drive, Birmingham, AL 35213.



Mr. Whitehead was born in Ft. Gaines and was reared in Abbeville, son of the late Woodrow Wilson Whitehead and Julia Kist Whitehead. He moved to the Tumbleton Community in 1980. Mr. Whitehead was a member of Shiloh Word Fellowship. He was retired as a carpenter and roofer in residential construction. Mr. Whitehead was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Dean Whitehead, two grandsons, Joseph Bauman-Whitehead and Joshua Bauman-Whitehead, and four brothers, David Whitehead, Larry Gillespie, Donald Kist and Randy Whitehead.



Surviving relatives include his wife, Nora Renfroe Whitehead; a daughter,          Pinkie Lenora Bauman, Headland; two grandchildren, Austin Bauman and Kaitlyn Bauman; three sisters, Marjorie Turner, and Shirley Money (Russell), all of Abbeville; and Della Searcy (Tommy), Shorterville; a brother, Tim Whitehead (Yvonne), Capps; sisters-in-law, Shirley Whitehead and Dorothy Kist; numerous nieces and nephews.



Serving as active pallbearers will be Keith Whitehead, Ronny Whitehead, J. W. Campbell, David Brinkley, Anthony Martin and Heath Bond. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Austin Bauman.



The family would like to thank Lynda and Taylor with Enhabit Hospice for the special care and love shown to Mr. Whitehead.
