Willie Mae Gavin, known to all as Mae, was born on June 17, 1938, in Gantt, Alabama, and passed away peacefully on September 5, 2023, in Fort Myers, Florida. Mae was a loving, faith-filled, and spirited woman whose radiant personality touched the lives of all who knew her.

Mae was born to Lucian and Bessie Lee (Benbow) Rowell. She spent her early years overcoming hardships in her humble childhood home in Gantt. It was these trials that shaped Mae into the strong, resilient woman she became, a woman who faced life’s challenges with a hopeful spirit and unwavering faith.

Mae's working years were spent at Adams Citrus Packaging Company of Auburndale, where she was a dedicated and hardworking employee for many years. Her colleagues remember her as a reliable and committed team member, always ready to lend a hand whenever needed.

Mae was a devout Christian and an active member of the Living Hope Church, formerly known as Church of God of Prophecy in Dothan, Alabama. Her faith was not only her comfort but also her strength, guiding her through life's ups and downs. She loved her Lord deeply and found peace in her spirituality, sharing this unshakeable faith with all those around her.

Mae was a beloved mother, sister, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" E. Gavin, and her son, Jesse Ray Hall Jr. She is survived by her children, Judy Ann Grumney and her partner Mel, Cathy Juanita Hall and her partner Glenda, and Joseph Hall. She also leaves behind her sister, Susie Casey, two grandsons, three great-granddaughters, and one great-great-granddaughter. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Those who knew Mae described her as a woman who never met a stranger. Her warmth and kindness were infectious, and she had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved. Her home was always filled with laughter and love

In the face of adversity, Mae stood tall, her faith never wavering. She was an inspiration to everyone who knew her, demonstrating how to live a life filled with grace, perseverance, and unwavering faith. She was a beacon of hope and a testament to the power of faith and love.

Mae Gavin will be remembered as a loving mother, a devoted sister, and a cherished grandmother. Her faith-filled life, her radiant spirit, and her loving heart will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be dearly missed, but her legacy of love and faith will live on in the lives of her family and friends.

Mae's life was a testament to her favorite scripture, Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." This verse was the guiding principle of her life, and she lived it out every day, inspiring all those around her.

May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory continue to inspire and uplift all who knew her.
