WILLOW DEAN JONES THORPE

DOTHAN… Willow Dean Jones Thorpe, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024, at her home. She was 87.

          Memorial services will be held at a later date.

          Mrs. Thorpe was born in Newville, Alabama to the late Leon Jones and Geraldine Cureton Jones. She was a 1954 Newville High School graduate. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Troy State University in 1958. She retired from teaching at Glynn County, Georgia School System, after teaching over thirty years. She lived in Brunswick, Georgia before returning to Dothan, Alabama in 1996. She was a member of the Union Springs Baptist Church in Newville, Alabama.

          Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. McCoy.

          Leaving to cherish her memory are her daughter, Catherine McCoy (Linda); her sister, Barbara Staton (Chuck); her brothers, Linward Jones (Helen), Nathan Jones (Janice), Don Jones, and David Jones; her nieces and nephews; and her fur grandbabies, Harleigh and LingLing.
