Winlon Arles Bodiford of Samson, Alabama was received into his eternal home on the morning of March 12, 2024. He is predeceased by parents Robie and Ruby Bodiford of Samson, Alabama. He is survived by his wife of 57-years Peggy Bodiford (nee’ Lowery) of Samson and their married daughter Dana Burch (John) and their children Payton and Braeden Burch of Helena, Alabama. He is also survived by sister Waunell (Nell) McCallister (Hugh, dec.) of Crawfordville, FL and their children, a niece, Michelle Gerrell (Randall) and nephew, Ronnie McCallister (Deb) also of Crawfordville, Florida.

Winlon was a much beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and uncle to his family and a widely known and respected friend in the surrounding communities. Winlon was born in the Reese community and learned the value of hard work as the son of a share-cropper family whose father worked the land and mother tended the laborers. He was always up for a good time but if ever his childhood exploits tended toward mischief, his older sister was there to firmly remind him of the straighter way, to his everlasting appreciation. He also embraced early, and all of his life, the balance of hard work with the joy of recreation. Winlon was an accomplished athlete in his youth, through High School and into his years at Gulf Coast CC. He also relished in chasing the bountiful wildlife of the woods and waters of the Pea River area and surrounding locales. Winlon also proudly served his state and country as an Alabama Army National Guardsman and was an active member of Corner Creek Church in Hacoda, Alabama, especially after retiring from his career as a field supervisor of electrical operations in the offshore oil industry.

The family will hold private services at a future time in his memory and to inter his ash remains at Corner Creek Cemetery where other members of his extended family are laid at rest. The family requests that in lieu of flowers monetary gifts please be made to either:
