NEWVILLE. . .Wylene Jeanelle Whiddon, a resident of Newville, died late Wednesday morning, August 19, 2015, in a Dothan hospital. She was 82.

            Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, August 21, 2015, in the Newville Baptist Church with Reverend Hugh D. Kirkland, Jr., Reverend Norman C. Simmons and Reverend Bryan Klobe officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Friday in the church sanctuary.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Newville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 13, Newville, AL 36353.

            Miss Whiddon was a lifelong resident of Newville, daughter of the late William Shelby Whiddon and Hattie Mae Hutto Whiddon. A member of the Newville Baptist Church and the church choir, she was also active in the W.M.U. and formerly served as church treasurer. Miss Whiddon was retired as a Teacher’s Aide from the Headland Elementary School. In earlier years, she was employed by Brackin Mercantile Company in Newville.

            Surviving relatives include her sister, Shelby Jean Whiddon, Newville; a cousin who was like a sister, Linda Faye McIntosh, Dothan; cousins who were like grandchildren, Jeff McIntosh and Rhonda McIntosh Karabin, both of Dothan; cousins who were like great-grandchildren, AnnaKay, Ava Claire and Hudson Karabin, an aunt, Mavis Whiddon Roney, a special cousin, Gerald Whiddon (Josie); several other cousins from the Whiddon and Hutto families.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Gerald Whiddon, Jeff McIntosh, George Fleming, Lee Watson, Fred Arnold, Robert Johnson, Kent Whiddon and Tommy Jones.
